Quick answer: The Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) is an open protocol announced by Google in September 2025 that lets AI agents make payments on a customer’s behalf. Each payment is backed by cryptographically signed “mandates” recording what the customer authorised (for example, the item, price limit and merchant), so the merchant, the payment provider and the customer all share verifiable proof of intent.

Why proof of consent matters

When an agent buys for a customer, the old question returns in a new form: can you prove the customer agreed? Heimdell Tech Ai has built its business on exactly that question. Our verified-consent platform already produces timestamped records of what terms were presented and accepted. AP2 extends the same idea to agent payments.
